Job Summary

The Assistant Transportation Manager works with the transportation assistants in providing prompt, efficient and courteous service to all customers through utilization of routing system.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

* Supervises assignments and organizes driver routes ensuring route efficiency based on stops and route costs.

* Manages daily trailer schedule with constant communication with customers and drivers to be communicated nightly.

* Completes daily and weekly reports on tickets, manifests, costs, and routing.

* Conducts accident investigations and reports findings to upper management.

* Manage and document driver safety meetings ensuring compliance with all company safety rules and regulations as well as federal, state and local regulations.

* Monitors driver hours and performance to maintain compliance with DOT regulations.

* Responsible for completing driver evaluations.

* Coordinates Mobile Wash Unit and Tank Delivery to customer's site including input and follow-up with Customer Service Representative.

* Maintain current customer accounts through personal and telephone contact ensuring quality service to each customer in coordination with Customer Service Representative.

* Act as back up for UCO transportation assistant when needed.

* Act as back up for Fat and Bone transportation assistant when needed.

* All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED.

* Bachelor's Degree in related field or 3-5 years of experience in a service business; route experience in an industrial environment a definite plus.

Preferred Qualifications

* Route sales and/or routing system experience preferred.

* Works well with others in a team environment.

* Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.

* Highly organized; superior time management skills.

* Good math and computer skills.

* Ability to pass physical and drug screen.

* Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Physical Demands

* Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.

* Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.

* Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out at a plant location, office environment, company vehicles or personal vehicle, and in customer locations.
